Broadway has a rich and colorful history of musicals. Well, The Great American Musical, tells the story of a theatre troupe that is putting on a musical about putting on a musical! This show pokes fun at the "musical-within-a-musical" genre as well as poking fun at classic Broadway stereotypes in general. You'll find an overworked extra, a geriatric starlet, the one macho chorus man, the chorus man with a music degree who therefore knows everything, and just plain wrong songs that debase and devalue women (just like in the old classics!).
